OPC in crisis again

The crisis between Chief Gani Adams, National
Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC,  and some
members led by the estranged Publicity Secretary of the
congress, Mr. Sina Akinpelu, worsened yesterday as the
latter asked Adams to explain what happened to the alleged
mobilisation fee and his inability to garner  six million votes
that the embattled leader allegedly promised President
Goodluck Jonathan in the March 28 election.
The faction within the OPC under the aegis of the National
Coordinating Council of the Oodua People’s Congress, OPC,
in a statement signed by the spokesman of the council,
Adesina Akinpelu, said that one of the factors that led to
President Jonathan’s defeat in South West was his romance
with people like Gani Adams.
Akinpelu, who the faction loyal to Adams, had purportedly
suspended over allegations of working for the Peoples
Democratic Party, argued that as one of the founding fathers
of OPC, he had contributed in so many ways to the liberation
of the Yoruba race from the shackles of oppressors, and it
was based on this that he and some conscious members of
the congress challenged Adams’ decision for allegedly
sacrificing the Yoruba race for pecuniary gains.
